Free NNAT Practice Tests by Grade

NNAT stands for Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test. NNAT3 is a nonverbal measure of general ability for students in kindergarten through Grade 12. Students reason with abstract shapes and visual relationships, and schools may use the results as one part of gifted and talented identification.

NNAT question types include Pattern Completion, Reasoning by Analogy, Serial Reasoning and Spatial Visualization. Students identify a missing piece, compare how figures change, continue a visual sequence or determine how shapes combine. The mix of question types depends on the student’s NNAT level.

NNAT3 Level A is designed for kindergarten, Level B for Grade 1, Level C for Grade 2, Level D for Grades 3 and 4, Level E for Grades 5 and 6, Level F for Grades 7–9 and Level G for Grades 10–12. Although NNAT spans K–12, students most commonly encounter it during elementary gifted screening, often in Grades 2 or 3. Ask your child’s school which NNAT edition, level and testing schedule it uses.

NNAT questions have no verbal content and use abstract geometric designs rather than reading passages or learned math problems. Directions are pictorial with minimal verbal instruction. Children still need to understand the task, recognize visual relationships and choose the figure that follows the rule.

Use short NNAT practice sessions to make visual question formats and directions familiar. Begin untimed, ask your child to explain how shapes move or change, review mistakes together, and add gentle pacing only after the reasoning is clear. Keep the routine calm and avoid last-minute cramming.
